The Wisconsin Charter Schools Association (WCSA) is a statewide voluntary membership organization of charter schools and friends of charter schools. The WCSA has two types of members:
Here is what the Association is doing for you and what your membership brings to you and your school:
- Building Political Support
We advocate at local and State levels to build support for Charter Schools. We have recently worked with DPI to issue new teacher licensing rules with considerably greater flexibility for Charter Schools. Over the next two years we are going to focus on legislative changes to improve our Charter School authorizers and the status of Charters.
- Organizing the Charter Community
It is essential we build the Charter School Community and enhance its voice and power. We have just launched a program to build a statewide database of 5,000 Charter School supporters. Come join us on Facebook.
- Celebrating the Charter Community
On October 15, 2010 at the beautiful Discovery World in Milwaukee we are hosting the third annual Charter Schools Awards Gala. It will offer wonderful food and drink as well as the Caribbean rythms of Pangaea. It is the premier annual event for recognizing the phenomenal value and contributions of the whole Charter community. April 7 and 8, 2011 we will also be hosting the 11th Wisconsin Charter Schools Conference at Blue Harbor Resort in Sheboygan.
- School Services
BWe have now launched an extensive program to offer low cost and high value school development services to our Charters. These services cover every aspect of establishing and developing a high performing school.
- Assisting in Contract Negotiations
The lifeblood of a Charter School is its contract. Charter Schools get autonomy in exchange for accountability. We continue, for free, to assist Charter Schools in their contract development and negotiations.
- Improving Community Support Statewide
We are launching a statewide marketing and communications campaign to inform the community about the value of Charter Schools. We are telling your stories.
